Interview Vivian Tran of Westwood Da Nang:  “A gathering spot for Bitcoiners!”

Opened in April 2025, Westwood Wood Fired Kitchen in Da Nang has quickly become more than just a restaurant – it has become a warm, vibrant gathering place for both locals and thoughtful travelers who seek something genuine and delicious.

This brandchild was brought to life by Vivian Tran and her longtime dear friend, Executive Chef Curtis Demyon. Together, they created a “premium casual” dining experience that blends serious culinary excellence with the relaxed, soulful spirit of Da Nang’s coastal neighborhoods.

At the heart of Westwood is a wood-fired kitchen that honors fresh local ingredients, allowing their natural flavors to shine through deep, smoky perfection.

Every three months, the menu evolves, inviting regulars to return again and again to discover new creations. It’s not just about great food – it’s about passion, craft, and creating moments that linger in the memory.

Whether you’re bringing someone special for a romantic evening or looking for a beautiful space to connect with like-minded souls, Westwood delivers an experience that feels both elevated and deeply welcoming.

BV Insights: When did you discover Bitcoin and what made it “click for you”?

Vivian Tran: I first heard about Bitcoin in 2014 from my friend Sacha during a late-night conversation in my kitchen in Revelstoke, Canada. I told him he was crazy. But his passion and rebellious belief in a system outside centralized control planted a seed that I couldn’t ignore.

It wasn’t an instant realization. The real shift came in 2018. The more I studied Bitcoin – its technology, its resilience, its principles – the more I became humbled and inspired. What began as skepticism slowly transformed into deep respect and conviction.

BV Insights: You built a life in North America (Canada and Texas) before making a big move to open Westwood in Da Nang. What drove that decision?

Vivian Tran: For most of my life, I made decisions with logic, data, and careful calculation. But opening Westwood was different. It was pure emotion – an instinctive pull I couldn’t explain with spreadsheets or analysis. It felt like a calling. One day I’ll share the full story, because it’s deeply personal. For now, I’ll just say: sometimes the best things in life aren’t rational. They’re heartfelt.

BV Insights: What can visitors expect at Westwood, and what is your vision ?

Vivian Tran:  We didn’t just want to open another restaurant. We wanted to build a *lifestyle* – a warm, comforting kitchen where people feel at home. A place where you can enjoy exceptional food, witness the passion of talented chefs, and become part of a real community in Da Nang.

From day one, we’ve proudly accepted Bitcoin. Westwood is more than a wood-fired kitchen – it’s a gathering spot for Bitcoiners. A beautiful, welcoming space where you can meet fellow Bitcoiners, share ideas, spark friendships, and enjoy meaningful conversations over great food and wine.

Whether you’re a local Bitcoiner or just passing through Da Nang, consider this your invitation. Come as you are. Eat well. Connect deeply.

We built Westwood for you, for Bitcoiners, for Satoshi.

BV Insights: Thank you for your time. We wish you continued success with Westwood Da Nang and your other ventures!
