Yes, you can! Seeds from Ledger, Trezor, and all our other hardware wallets are intercompatible. You can use any seed in any device, and any current assets that your new device supports will be available. Both Ledger and Trezor support a range of coins including stablecoins such as Tether (USDT) and USDC on all the common Blockchains.
How to transfer from Ledger to Trezor?
Once you have your seed phrase and new device in hand, you’re ready to go.
- Load up Trezor Suite, and connect the new device.
- Update the firmware on the Trezor if prompted.
- When asked, choose “Recover Wallet” and follow the instructions here.
Please note that by using the same seed phrase, your Ledger wallet will still be active. You can reset the Ledger wallet to set up a new wallet.
Issues you may need to deal with when transferring from Ledger to Trezor
- Seed Phrase Compatibility: Earlier versions of Ledger (pre 2018) strayed from industry standards, storing certain assets (such as Ethereum) in non-standard addresses. In these cases, it may be necessary to move the funds to a new address via on-chain transaction.
- Hardware Compatibility: Not all assets supported by Ledger are also supported by Trezor. You may need to find alternative solutions to transfer and hold unsupported cryptocurrencies.
- Software Compatibility: Not all assets supported by Trezor are supported by Trezor Suite. 3rd party wallet software is required to access certain assets.
