USDC Adoption on Optimism
The Optimism network has climbed to rank 6 measured in issuance of USDT (Tether), the world’s leading stablecoin, with over 1 billion USDT in circulation (~1% of total USDT issuance). However, adoption of USDC on Optimism currently lags behind.
Currently the total issuance of USDC on the Optimism Network is only about ~100m$ (less than 0.3% of total supply) and it is only the 12th most-adopted network to transfer USDC, the stablecoin with possibly the widest reach across a Western audience.
Aside from Ethereum, the longstanding leader in the space, which only recently dipped below a 70% market share for USDC, other Ethereum Layer 2 solutions like Arbitrum and Polygon still dominate this area.
