Team BitcoinVN on Kryptomagazin TV

Last month, we had a visit from one of Europe’s foremost “Bitcoin countries”: the Czech Republic.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Ondrej, a contributor to Kryptomagazin – one of the leading Czech-language outlets – to report on the current state of Bitcoin in Vietnam: the ecosystem, its challenges amid a year of rapid regulatory changes, and some practical observations on how Bitcoin is perceived and used in Vietnam today.

From the BitcoinVN side, Dominik – one of the original co-founders of BitcoinVN and an early supporter of Bitcoin meetups in his hometown Frankfurt, as well as in the Saigonese Bitcoin community – and Fabian, operations lead of the BitcoinVN BTM Department and one of the core pillars of the local Bitcoin community, took the opportunity to share what they’ve learned from many years of operating a Bitcoin business on the frontlines.

As a quiet special guest in the background, we also had our new “Fiat Eater” edition of the Gustav BTM series listening in – alongside his friend, the Vietnam Hodler.

The ties between the Czech Republic and Vietnam run deeper than many outside these two countries may realize. Tens of thousands of Vietnamese students and workers were sent to then-Czechoslovakia in the 1970s and 1980s under educational and labor exchange programs during the socialist era — laying the foundation for one of the largest Vietnamese diasporas in Europe today, including Prague’s well-known SAPA Market (Praha-Libuš), often described as the largest Vietnamese marketplace in Europe.

The Czech Republic is also widely recognized within the Bitcoin space for its early adoption and cypherpunk culture. Prague has hosted major events such as BTC Prague and was historically home to Paralelní Polis – a long-standing center for crypto-anarchist and privacy-oriented experimentation – as well as some of the earliest Bitcoin infrastructure projects in Europe.

The latter includes companies such as SatoshiLabs, the parent company behind Trezor – the first commercially available dedicated Bitcoin hardware wallet, launched in early 2014 – as well as Slush Pool, the world’s first Bitcoin mining pool.

As further proof that business ties between the Czech Republic and Vietnam carry weight well into the 21st century, BitcoinVN Shop has served as an official supplier of Trezor devices in Vietnam since 2017.

BitcoinVN has stayed aligned with the original Bitcoin ethos, rooted in the understanding that widespread self-custody is a fundamental requirement for the network’s strength. As such, we have taken on the operational burden to provide the market with fast and reliable access to genuine Trezor devices – ensuring that clients seeking self-custody solutions encounter minimal friction when acquiring a hardware wallet.

For those who wish to experience a piece of Czech Bitcoin engineering firsthand, genuine Trezor devices are available locally in Vietnam via BitcoinVN Shop.
