Their remaining independent keys provided a buffer against the failure of that one component.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should still replace an affected key sooner rather than later.<\/strong> But if the compromised key alone cannot meet the signing threshold, the remaining independent keys provide a buffer while you arrange for a secure migration and key rotation without rushing the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means replacing the actual key and moving your funds to the updated multisig wallet. Restoring the same compromised seed on a different device leaves you with the same problem.<\/strong> The remaining independent keys continue to protect your funds while you replace the affected one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is what MVMS provides: resilience when one component fails.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It cannot guarantee protection against every future vulnerability. It can, however, reduce your dependence on any individual manufacturer continuing to get everything right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you intend to hold Bitcoin for years or decades, you have to allow for things going wrong during that time – even with products from manufacturers you trust. We have been in this industry long enough to see why that matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And with increasingly powerful AI tools available to both developers and attackers, we expect the time between finding a weakness and exploiting it to keep shrinking. That gives us even less confidence in relying on a single device or manufacturer to protect significant long-term savings.<\/p>\n\n\n
