Following up on our recent introduction of Saving Satoshi – the interactive Bitcoin RPG designed to spark curiosity among developers – we sat down with Anh La, the Vietnamese translator of the project.

In this interview, Anh La shares why he decided to bring Saving Satoshi to a local audience, what he hopes participants will gain from it, and his perspective on the future of Bitcoin developer education in Vietnam.
BV News: How did you first come across the Saving Satoshi project, and what made you decide to personally support it by making it accessible for a Vietnamese audience?
Anh La: The first time I heard about the Saving Satoshi project when I was listening to the Stephan Livera Podcast. In an episode, when 2 Bitcoin developers started talking about some free, open-source tools for learning about Bitcoin’s tech. Saving Satoshi instantly caught my attention—it’s this incredibly cool role-playing game that turns a complex subject into something fun and interactive.
As a Bitcoin learner, I’ve spent countless hours digging into books, podcasts, videos, and courses. I know firsthand how challenging it is to connect the dots between big-picture systematic issues and how Bitcoin actually solves them. Most resources out there focus on abstract theory and technical jargon, but very few take a hands-on, playful approach like this game does. That’s why I felt so compelled to translate it into Vietnamese. My goal was to break down language barriers and bring this powerful educational tool to the Vietnamese Bitcoin community, making a high-quality educational product accessible and engaging for more people, all built on the solid foundation of Bitcoin’s proof-of-work.
BV News: What can participants expect to learn from Saving Satoshi? Who should give it a try, or recommend it to their friends?
Anh La: This beautifully designed game offers a practical understanding of fundamental cryptography, Bitcoin’s code lessons, and an opportunity to investigate the resilient nature of Proof of Work, which can effectively withstand threats like a 51% attack. It guides players through coding Bitcoin scripts with engaging, story-driven challenges (10 chapters). The best part? It’s designed for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned developers, and requires no prior knowledge. If you get stuck, an AI tool like ChatGPT or Gemini can be a great study partner. I truly encourage everyone, especially young people, to dive in. It’s a fantastic way to gain practical insights into Bitcoin while having fun – and it is free.

BV News: How do you see the current state of Bitcoin developer education in Vietnam? And what would you like to see more of to help Vietnam evolve from a booming crypto market into a place where Bitcoin is recognized as truly unique?
Anh La: Vietnam’s Bitcoin developer education is a massive untapped market, though it’s currently overshadowed by the country’s crypto frenzy. The “get-rich-quick” hype has led to a flood of superficial conferences and hackathons, often driven by opportunists. However, the country’s commitment to building a digital economy is clear, with initiatives like the IFC digital assets sandbox in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
To me, Bitcoin is the greatest invention since the internet: the only truly scarce, neutral, decentralized, and censorship-resistant asset, all backed by a secure proof-of-work network. I genuinely hope to see grassroots Bitcoin innovation take root in Vietnam through local meetups, workshops, businesses, and courses. It’s also crucial to collaborate with global Bitcoin groups on things like hackathons. We could develop Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies like the Lightning Network, Liquid, Ark and more.
By educating and empowering our young IT talent to build practical applications—not just trade—and by engaging in industry-government forums, Vietnam can achieve sustainable growth and long-term technological independence. This is how we can not only harness our immense talent pool but also position Vietnam as a pioneer in the global Bitcoin space.
