Set to take place in <\/span>Chiang Mai, Thailand<\/b> on <\/span>November 1\u20132, 2025<\/b>, the Bitcoin Marathon positions itself as the first-ever marathon event dedicated to Bitcoin. The organizers aim to merge athletic endurance with the ethos of Bitcoin – persistence, proof of work, and self-sovereignty – in a way that appeals both to runners and Bitcoiners worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event coincides with <\/span>Loy Krathong<\/b> and <\/span>Yi Peng<\/b>, two of Thailand\u2019s most visually striking festivals. Participants will run through Chiang Mai\u2019s historic old town and modern districts, surrounded by floating lanterns and candle-lit waterways.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event thankfully received the financial backing by <\/span>Tether<\/span><\/a>, issuer of the most popular USD-backed stablecoin in Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Team BitcoinVN will be represented by our BTM Department lead, <\/span>Fabian<\/b>, who – together with his colleagues – has achieved the highly challenging feat of building a <\/span>hardware-focused Bitcoin business<\/b> from the ground up. Our <\/span>made-in-Vietnam<\/span><\/i> fleet of Bitcoin ATMs<\/span><\/a>, currently deployed exclusively across Ho Chi Minh City, makes access to Bitcoin simple and convenient for locals and visitors alike with even more ambitious expansion plans set for 2026 and beyond – aiming to export Vietnamese-built Bitcoin technology to a wider global audience.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI heard about the marathon at the Bitcoin Bali Conference, where I met some of the Bitcoin Thailand crew – Piccolo, Jimmy, and Neo!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Seeing them again, it was great to reminisce about prior SE Asian conferences like the Thailand conference and the very first Bitcoin Bali Conference.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

There is always a feeling of camaraderie when I meet people from the different Asian\/ SE Asian groups. I shared that I would like to get Vietnam involved – that is when Neo and Jimmy invited me to the Chiang Mai Run for freedom.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I have been running 5k for normal exercise but this was a great opportunity to push myself to a little more discomfort and a great excuse to go to Thailand. This will be my first time visiting Chiang Mai, so I’m looking forward to participating in all the bitcoiner activities, meeting up with like minded people and getting that 10k medal!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0– Fabian Rodriguez – BTM Department lead, BitcoinVN<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

Beyond the run itself, attendees can visit the <\/span>Bitcoin Learning Center Chiang Mai<\/b><\/a>, which has established itself as one of the main Bitcoin educational facilities in Southeast Asia. The center serves both as a learning space for local Thais eager to understand Bitcoin and as a community gathering point for the many Western Bitcoiners who found a new home in Chiang Mai, one of the foremost popular Digital Nomad locations in South East Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n
